Win a copy of “Time of My Life”

One of my favorite books recently is Allison Winn Scotch’s New York Times Bestseller “Time of my Life,” which I recommended earlier this year. It’s just been released in paperback this week, so to celebrate the launch and to support an author I adore, I’m having a contest to giveaway a copy of this delicious novel! The rules are simple — describe the best time of your life in five words or less in the comments section below. I’ll pick a winner — along with input from Allison hereself — and announce it here by this weekend. So weigh in on why you should get a free copy of a novel you’ll gobble up in a night or two!

I adore Allison! She’s SO helpful and inspiring to young writers (like me!) so I would love to win a copy of her latest book.

OH I TOTALLY forgot the 5 word thing… Sorry, haha!

    “College: love, friends, loss, growth.”

That’s like THE lamest most general thing, I know, but how do you sum up 4 years in 5 words?!

    “Five years of rewarding parenthood”

There have been many ‘times of my life’ over the past 42 years, but the most satisfying and enjoyable have been the unexpected, unmatched joy I have been given from my son.

“The day my daughter was born.”

My wife and I and both came from large families with lots of boys. There had been no daughters born in over 25 years when my little girl was born. She’s now 4, and I struggle every day with how to connect to her - her mind just works so differently from my own! - but I love her dearly and cherish every second with her.

    “Secret Garden” late-night dancing

When my husband and I were dating, I was talking about how we never dance. So, before we had left my mom’s house, he left the car on for the CD player to work, and put on Bruce Springsteen’s “Secret Garden” that also included the little blurbs from Jerry Maguire. We slow-danced by the car in the driveway to the entire song, and he told me that he would love me forever and always. We have been together for almost 6 years, and married for 3. That was one night that I will cherish with him for the rest of life!

    Rediscovering love, myself after separation

The most revealing (and most painful) chapter of my life - being separated from my husband. Finally finding out who I am and uncovering a wonderful new relationship with my husband of almost 20 years.

    Meeting my beautiful baby girl.

Long, scary labor. So glad to finally meet her and know everything was going to be ok.

    Meeting my miracle: healthy boy.

After a year of chemo my husband and I were told we would never have kids. We were shocked, excited and nervous when we found that we pregnant. We were so relieved to meet our healthy and normal baby boy. He’s now 2 and still reveals to us new miracles.

    Princess marching towards her prince.

I remember being in the hotel room getting ready before my wedding. It was raining outside; I’d never felt so ugly. How could this be? It’s my wedding day! The minute I stepped on to the aisle, I transformed into the a beautiful princess walking towards my prince. 26 years later, I can still say this was unquestionably, the best time of my life.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about this author; I’d love to win/read one of her books! My five words:

    “I flew through the air”

I haven’t been married or had kids yet, so hands down the best time of my life was when I was a performer in a circus for four years. Nothing can compete with the feeling of flying through the air on a trapeze.

The year I turned 20 I spent the summer in Spain on my own. I learned so much about myself during those three months. It was incredibly liberating and shaped a lot of who I am today. I would definitely say that was the time of my life.

Just realized it was only supposed to be five words - sorry! Still tired and brain dead from SCBWI-LA!
